The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Wind Advisory...which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EST Saturday. * Locations...southeast New York...northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut. * Hazards...strong winds. * Winds...northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph. * Timing...tonight into Saturday afternoon. * Impacts...the strong winds may down some tree limbs and power lines...and make driving high profile vehicles difficult...especially on elevated roadways and bridges. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph... or gusts of 46 to 57 mph...are expected or occurring. July 27th marks a great day for exercising and staying healthy: National Take Your Pants for a Walk Day. Although it has a silly name, the day is suppose to encourage people to get off their couches or get off of their beach towels where they are sunbathing and go for a walk.

Luckily, Long Islanders have the luxury and privilege to have many different trails to hiking and walk on the island. Some trails go across the island and give the walker a view of the beautiful nature on Long Island.
