Robert Cushman Murphy County Park was Suffolk County’s first natural park. It is a 2,200 acre park and is part of the Peconic River Wastershed. Its extensive acreage is home to much wildlife and bird species making it a favorite for bird watching. Just across the road is a boat launch into Swan Lake where visitor are also permitted to fish. A foot path begins at the far end of the access road for hiking and exploring the natural habitats located within the park. Hunting is permitted seasonally.
