Two Years After Acid Attack, Local Community Leaders Join with Family to Renew Call for Justice

Just days after the two-year anniversary of the horrific acid attack on Elmont resident Nafiah Ikram, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Lawrence) will join with Nafiah and her family, County officials and local community leaders at Nafiah’s home to call for renewed intensity in the efforts to solve this case and finally bring her attacker to justice.
 
Nafiah was assaulted on the evening of Wednesday, March 17, 2021. According to Nassau County Police Department officials, Nafiah was walking in the driveway of her residence when she was approached from behind by an unknown male. The suspect was carrying a white colored cup containing a dark colored substance which he then threw at the victim’s face. The suspect, who is described as approximately 6’2” tall, skinny build, wearing a black colored sweatshirt with a hood and wearing gloves, fled eastbound on Arlington Avenue in a 2013-15 Nissan Altima.
 
In the aftermath of the attack, Nafiah has endured numerous treatments for the injuries that were inflicted upon her. All the while, she has continued her studies at Hofstra University and has been a courageous beacon of perseverance and grace. The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her attacker has risen to $50,000 in recent weeks.
