Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is potential for minor coastal flooding with the Saturday morning high tide cycle.

Officers Rescue Man Who Fell Into Storm Drain While Attempting to Retrieve Phone

Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section officers rescued a man who fell into a storm drain while attempting to retrieve a cell phone in Medford this evening.

Medford, NY - July 30th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section officers rescued a man who fell into a storm drain while attempting to retrieve a cell phone in Medford this evening.

A 25-year-old Medford man accidentally dropped his cellular phone down a storm drain on Route 112 near Granny Road at approximately 6:40 p.m.  The man attempted to retrieve the phone but slipped and fell into the drain’s holding tank where he became trapped.  He was able to call 911 with a second cellular phone that he had with him.

Emergency Service Section Officers Paul Carpenito and William Judge responded and used a reciprocating saw and a ladder to get to the victim.  They were able to free the victim who was not injured.
