Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section officers rescued a man who fell into a storm drain while attempting to retrieve a cell phone in Medford this evening.

Medford, NY - July 30th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section officers rescued a man who fell into a storm drain while attempting to retrieve a cell phone in Medford this evening.

A 25-year-old Medford man accidentally dropped his cellular phone down a storm drain on Route 112 near Granny Road at approximately 6:40 p.m.  The man attempted to retrieve the phone but slipped and fell into the drain’s holding tank where he became trapped.  He was able to call 911 with a second cellular phone that he had with him.

Emergency Service Section Officers Paul Carpenito and William Judge responded and used a reciprocating saw and a ladder to get to the victim.  They were able to free the victim who was not injured.
