Infinity Tavern seems to be latest bar moving in to the spot that was most recently Maui Chophouse in Rocky Point.
Over the years, a number of different bars and restaurants have taken up residence in the space at 49 Route 25a in Rocky Point in the Crossroads Shopping Center West. Many years ago it was Viva Juan Mexican Restaurant. Then around 2013 it transformed into BBD - Beers, Burgers, & Desserts, a craft beer bar and restaurant. A few years ago BBDs morphed into Maui Chophouse, serving up Hawaiin cuisine, which this summer closed up shop and became a food truck.
Now a new place called Infinity Tavern is giving it a go. No details have been made available yet but someone at the location said the owners were out of town and would return the first week of the new year with a planned opening sometime before the end of January, although that is not offical.
A sign has already been hung above the doors with a tagline “kings of fun.”
An application with the New York State Liquor Authority lists an application pending for Infinity Tavern at the address filed in November 2022 and under review.
The only other clue to what’s going into the new spot is a Facebook page that lists the name and address of the new place.
A photo profile picture and cover photo show a lion with the words “viene pronto,” which translates to "coming soon" in English. The words “las taverna mas compacta con el mejor ambiente” are also on the image, loosely translated by Google Translate to mean “the most compact tavern with the best atmosphere.”
Brown paper covers the windows so it's nearly impossible to tell what they have cooking up inside. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
Update 1: A person who answered the phone at the number listed on the Facebook page said that they were opening “next year.” They also said they plan to open Tuesday through Sunday from 2-10pm or 11pm serving drinks and appetizers.
