Mastic, NY - August 1st, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body that was found floating in a marina in Mastic this afternoon.
Marine Bureau Unit officers noticed a body floating in between two boats at the Blackhawk Marina, located at 198 Poospatuck Lane, at approximately 4:20 p.m. Homicide Squad detectives were called and at this time the incident does not appear to be suspicious.
The victim is a 56-year-old Bellport man that was seen at the marina earlier in the day. His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
