The kids in Babylon Town have a reason to celebrate this summer. A new playground just opened at Overlook Beach. With beaches and parks reopening for the summer after many were closed last year due to Covid-19, parents and children all over the Island find things are getting back to normal. Recently, Port Jefferson Village said that its beloved Rocketship Park was reopening after being shuttered due to the pandemic.
According to a Town of Oyster Bay press release announcing the reopening, time had not been good to the old playset.
“The elements at Overlook are tough and the previous playground lost its battle with the salty air that blows in off the Atlantic ocean,” the release said. “We thank our department of Parks & Recreation for their efforts to get the playground finished in time for the summer season and we hope residents enjoy the improvements.”
Overlook Beach is located near Cedar Beach Marina and is open to Babylon Town residents only.
