Update 2:45 PM: Local and Federal officials are now saying that there has been a miscommunication in relation to the suspect's arrest. While they do have video of a dark-skinned male dropping a bag at the site of the second bomb, they are denying that any arrest has been made. Reports still conflict on whether the individual has been positively identified.
Reports are being made that a suspect has been arrested in relation to the Boston Marathon Bombing. After the FBI stated this morning that it had made substantial progress in the case, several sources have indicated that a person was brought into custody at some point today.
Authorities reportedly discovered footage of a man dropping a black bag at the site of the second bomb, which was then corroborated by security video of a Lord and Taylor apparel store in the area. The Lord and Taylor footage gave investigators clear facial identification of the suspect; they pursued the lead and have since detained the individual in question.
Details on today’s progress are still scarce and contradictory. While some sources are stating that an arrest has been made others say the suspect has been brought into custody but not yet placed under arrest. Officials have not yet confirmed any of these claims, leaving the possibility that the man who has been ID’d has not yet been found or detained.
We will continue to provide updates on the investigation as more information emerges.
