Body Found on Miller Place Beach Identified as Queens Teenager

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a male found on a Miller Place beach yesterday.

Update - March 13th, 2014, 3:45 PM - Sidney Valverde has been identified as the man whose body was found on the sand in front of Miller Beach Surf Club in Miller Place on March 12. It has been determined that Valverde, 19, of Jamaica, Queens, sustained a significant head injury. The investigation is continuing.

Miller Place, NY - March 13th, 2014 -  Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a male found on a Miller Place beach yesterday.

Sixth Precinct police officers were called to the beach in front of the Miller Beach Surf Club, located at 23 Harbor Beach Road, after a man looking for driftwood discovered the body of a man lying on the sand.  A preliminary investigation by a Physician Assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office indicates that the man was a victim of violence.  The victim has been taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed.
