Bronx Woman Arrested for Grand Larceny in Glen Cove Scam

Police reported the arrest of Clari Zabala, charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree. Between January 9 and February 12, 2025, Zabala allegedly deceived a victim into wiring $394,591.27

The Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Section reports the arrest of a Bronx woman for a Grand Larceny that occurred between Thursday, January 9, 2025 and Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in Glen Cove.
 
According to detectives, the victim received an email to his business account, from what he believed to be a legitimate vendor known to him with change of payment instructions. Due to current business with this vendor the victim did follow the directions given via email and wired $394,591.27 to the defendant’s account. After a thorough investigation, detectives identified and located defendant, Clari Aleydi Zabala, 24, and placed her under arrest without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
 
Defendant Clari Aleydi Zabala is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
