Dear Long Islander,

Last weekend Long Island was hit with the epic Winter Storm Nemo, which brought more than three feet of snow to some areas, and slowed down daily routines to a snails pace as roads were being cleared. Thankfully, the roads have finally been cleared, but we're not quite out of the woods yet - it looks like more snow may be headed our way this weekend, although this upcoming weather forecast pales in comparison to the mark left by Nemo. This weekend should be cleared enough to get out, and have some fun - something that folks Island-wide are ready to do after being cooped up or busy shoveling last weekend. There's all sorts of great things to do this weekend, including some great events geared toward romance, for those who may have been busy earlier in the week, and may have missed out on Valentine's Day.

Brookhaven's Acting Superintendent of Highways Resigns
Murphy Resigned This Week After A Widely Critisized Response to Nemo
The Town of Brookhaven announced yesterday that effective 3 p.m. Michael Murphy officially resigned his position as First Deputy Superintendent of Highways (Acting Superintendent of Highways). While residents struggled under the weight of record snowfalls during last week’s blizzard and many of them remained trapped in their homes for days because snow plows never cleared their streets, Brookhaven’s top highway official was out of town. Town officials reported that Murphy called out sick because of a tooth ache or a possible root canal.
