"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 6 PM EST Monday... * locations...the New York City and New Jersey metropolitan areas...northern Nassau and northwest Suffolk counties...and southeastern coastal Connecticut. * Hazard types...snow...sleet and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 2 to 5 inches...along with 1 to 2 tenths of an inch of ice. Highest snow and ice amounts will be across northern portions of the New York City and New Jersey Metro and northern portions of Long Island. * Timing...tonight through Monday. Heavy snow late tonight into early Monday morning...changing to heavy rain and/or freezing rain...then changing back to a wintry mix in the afternoon. Snowfall range could be 1 to 2 inches higher or lower based on timing of changeover in the morning. * Winds...east winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph in the morning. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph late Monday. * Temperatures...in the lower 30s. * Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times late tonight into early Monday morning. * Snowfall rates...occasionally 1 to 2 inches per hour late Sunday night into early Monday morning. * Impacts...hazardous travel due to reduced visibilities and significant snow and ice accumulations for the early Monday morning commute. Untreated roadways will likely become icy for the Monday evening commute. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Three Arrested in Roslyn Heights for Larceny, Assault, and Drug Possession

Third Squad detectives report the details of three arrests for petit larceny, aggravated harassment and criminal possession of drugs which occurred in Roslyn Heights beginning ...

Roslyn Heights, NY - August 25th, 2014 - Third Squad detectives report the details of three arrests for petit larceny, aggravated harassment and criminal possession of drugs which occurred  in Roslyn Heights beginning Monday, 08/11/14 at 8:00 P.M.

According to detectives, Jay Capodiferro, 29, of Edwards St., Roslyn Heights, along with Janine Devlin, 29, of Fox Croft Rd., Albertson, took assorted pieces of jewelry from a female victim, while in the victim’s home in Roslyn Heights. Defendant Capodiferro also harassed and stalked the female victim over a period of time.

On Sunday, 08/24/14, Capodiffero attempted to sell the jewelry as an exchange for drugs to defendant Stephen Devita, 29, of Seward St., Mineola.  At the time of his arrest, Devita was found to be in possession of stolen jewelry, several opiate pills and approximately 11 grams of Heroin.  Partial jewelry proceeds were recovered and returned to the victim.

Capodiferro is being charged with two counts of Petit Larceny, Stalking 3rd Degree and Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree.  Devlin is being charged with Petit Larceny.  Devita is being charged with three counts of Criminal Possession Controlled Substance. All three defendants will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead. Capodiferro and Devita will be arraigned on Monday, 08/25/14.  Devlin was released on a Desk Appearance ticket and will be arraigned on 09/02/14.
