The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to midnight EST Monday night. * Winds...northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...tonight, through Monday and into Monday evening. * Impacts...strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Use extra caution. , "Special Statement" ...Very slippery conditions through tonight... temperatures will plummet through tonight well below freezing. As these temperatures fall, plenty of residual moisture and leftover standing water on area roads will freeze, or remain frozen. This will lead to areas of black ice. Officials: North Carolina Man Busted in Westbury on Drug, Firearm Charges

Westbury, NY - December 7, 2018 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Roxboro, North Carolina man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 9:30 pm in Westbury.
 
According to detectives, two Third Precinct officers, while on patrol, observed a suspicious occupied vehicle and the smell of marijuana coming from that area while in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, 699 Dibblee Drive. 
 
Upon approaching the vehicle to conduct an investigation, officers observed burnt marijuana cigarettes in the vehicles ashtray. The driver, Harrison Sneed, 22, was asked to exit the car and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun that was in his waistband. He was placed under arrest without further incident.
 
Sneed is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 12/07/2018.
