VIDEO: Authorities Seeking Man Who Scammed Elderly Oceanside Woman Out of Over $45,000

Oceanside, NY - December 4, 2018 - Fourth Squad Detectives report the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 am in Oceanside.
 
According to detectives, an unknown male contacted the female victim, 81, and stated her son was arrested for being involved in an auto accident causing injuries and needed seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) for bail money. The victim arranged for the cash transaction to occur at her residence. After payment was made, the unknown male contacted the victim and stated an additional seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) was needed because the bail was raised. The subject claimed a pregnant woman was injured in the accident and lost her child. The victim again arranged to meet the unknown subject at her residence for payment.
 
The victim was contacted a third time by the same unknown male. The caller explained an addition thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) would cover medical costs and if paid in cash would expunge her son’s criminal record. The same male met the victim and collected the payment.
 
The subject’s vehicle is described as a dark colored four (4) door Honda.
