Valley Stream Mother Found Injecting Hypodermic Needle into Her Arm with 5-Year-Old Daughter in Back Seat of Walgreens Parking Lot

Franklin Square, NY - October 12, 2016 - Fifth Precinct officers report the arrest of a Valley Stream woman for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 7:20 pm in Franklin Square.

According to officers, Heather Dajani, 25, of Valley Stream, while in her car in the parking lot of Walgreens, 703 Franklin Avenue, was observed by a witness who walked by and noticed that she was injecting a hypodermic needle into her arm. The witness then called 911.

Plain clothes officers responded to the parking lot, observed Dajani using the hypodermic needle and placed her into custody. Also in the vehicle at the time was Dajani’s five year old daughter who was in the back seat.

A subsequent investigation at the scene revealed additional paraphernalia including an additional used hypodermic needle, a straw containing heroin, a glass pipe containing crack cocaine and a metal pipe containing marijuana.

The five year old was released to the custody of her grandmother who responded to the scene.

Dajani, who was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, is charged with three (3) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. She will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/12/2016.
