UPDATE - June 6, 2018 - A similar vehicle bearing New York license plate GAV4699 has been found in Rockbridge County, Virginia with two deceased occupants who are believed to be 2-year-old Jovani Ligurgo and his father, John Ligurgo III, 43. A positive identification is pending.
 
Suffolk County Police Department Commissioner Geraldine Hart, Chief of Department Stuart Cameron and Chief of Detectives Gerard Gigante will be available to provide an update today at Suffolk County Police Department Headquarters in Yaphank.

Coram, NY - June 6, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating a 2-year-old boy who was last seen with his father in Coram.
 
Jovani Ligurgo’s mother dropped him off at his father’s residence on Bretton Woods Drive in Coram at approximately 7 a.m. on June 5. When the child, who resides with his mother in Smithtown, was not returned to his mother’s custody at the predetermined time, 3:30-4 p.m., the mother called police.
 
Officers responded to a call of a house fire at approximately 3:35 p.m. at a residence on Bretton Woods Drive, where the boy’s father, John Ligurgo III, 43, resides. The residence was unoccupied.
 
Sixth Squad detectives believe the child is in the company of his father, who may have fled the state in his black Jeep Grand Cherokee, New York license plate GAV4699. Ligurgo III may be in possession of a hunting rifle.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call 911 or contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
