Expect around 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, Parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the Waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * Shoreline impacts...breaking waves will result in beach erosion and flooding with minor damage possible to dune structures during the times of high tide. * Timing...around the times of high tide tonight. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Use extra caution. , "Special Statement" Wintry weather will continue this evening across the entire tri- state area. Snowfall rates of up to 2 to 3 inches per hour will be possible during this time over portions of northeastern Long Island and all areas north of New York City with the visibility reduced below a quarter of a mile. For the rest of Long Island, New York City and adjacent areas of northeast New Jersey, snowfall rates will be lighter with sleet eventually mixing in. A changeover to rain is expected across the South Shore of Long Island, and possibly along the shorelines of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Regardless of the precipitation type, temperatures are hovering around freezing or below, so Road conditions will be hazardous.
