Drunk Homeless Man Drove Over Teen Pedestrian in West Hempstead, According to Police

NCPD reports a serious auto accident, in which a pedestrian was struck, that occurred in West Hempstead on Friday, 10/27.

West Hempstead, NY - October 30, 2017 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a serious auto accident, in which a pedestrian was struck, that occurred in West Hempstead on Friday, 10/27/17 at 6:25 P.M.
 
According to detectives, Luis De Jesus, 42, (no current address) was operating a 2002 Dodge Caravan into the rear parking lot of 456 Hempstead Tpke., a strip mall at Cherry Valley Avenue, when he struck a 14-year-old boy, who was riding a skate board. The defendant, who was intoxicated, drove over the victim, trapping him under the van.
 
The Franklin Square Fire Department responded and extricated the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital. The victim sustained head and internal injuries and is listed in serious condition.
 
De Jesus is being charged with Murder 2nd Degree (Attempt), Assault 1st Degree, Vehicular Assault 1st Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed 1st Degree (Revocation), DWI, DWI (BAC+.08 Misd), and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  He will be arraigned on Saturday, 10/28/17 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
