Police: Hempstead Man Arrested After Multiple East Meadow Burglaries, Assault

East Meadow, NY - March 28, 2017 - The First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Burglary that occurred on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 9:35 pm in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, patrol officers responded to a 911 call for an unknown problem at a Front Street residence.  Upon arrival, the victim, 67, informed police he encountered Julio Javier, 33, in the home’s garage. Javier, who was wearing a black ski mask, engaged the homeowner in a struggle and caused an injury to the victim’s arm and fled on foot.  The victim was treated at an area hospital.
 
During the investigation, detectives discovered the defendant was unsuccessful gaining entry to another residence on Kodma Place, but did enter the unattached garage. Javier was located a short time later on Lincoln Avenue and placed under arrest without further incident.
 
The defendant is being charged with Assault 1st degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd degree and Criminal Trespass 3rd degree. Javier will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
