COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM TO 6 PM EDT TUESDAY * WHAT...One foot and locally as much as two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield, Southern New Haven, Southern Middlesex and Southern New London Counties. In New York, Southern Westchester, Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...From 2 PM to 6 PM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding is expected in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. Locally moderate flooding may occur along the westernmost shores of Long Island Sound in Westchester and Nassau Counties, where road closures may be likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront could become flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wave action along the north shore of Long Island and runoff from heavy rain may exacerbate coastal flooding in some areas.

Nassau Police Arrest Five in Massapequa Park Robbery

Five individuals were arrested after robbing a home.

Massapequa Park, NY - February 11, 2014 - The Seventh Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred in Massapequa Park at 7:15pm on February 9, 2014.
 
According to Detectives, five defendants were arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in a residence on Broadway. The male victim, 24, was at his residence when the three male defendants known to him entered his residence.  After about twenty minutes, defendant Vairo displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and for him to get on the floor. The defendant removed the victim’s US currency along with a computer tablet and two X-Box controllers. The three defendants entered defendant Corsale’s 1996 Geo Prism, where the two female defendants were waiting for them; all fled the scene.  No injuries were reported. Proceeds were recovered with all arrests.
 
Arrested on February 10, 2014 for this Robbery were: Nicholas Vairo, 21, of 208 Wantagh Avenue Levittown; Michael Myers, 21, of 3635 Tonopah Street Seaford; Rajiv M. Singh, 19, of 2496 N. Jerusalem Road North Bellmore; Melina James, 18, 31 Sanford Street Huntington Station and Jessica Taylor Corsale, 20, of 274 Seaford Avenue Massapequa.  All five defendants are each charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree.  Additionally charged are defendant Myers for one count and defendant Singh for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.  All five defendants will be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead on February 11, 2014.
