Long Beach Man Arrested in Island Park for Grand Larceny

Island Park, NY - January 10th, 2014 -  The Crimes Against Property Squad report the arrest of a Long Beach man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, January 09, 2014 at 2:20 p.m. in Island Park.

According to detectives, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:40 p.m. Fourth Precinct officers responded to U.S. Petroleum 3880 Long Beach Road for a landlord/tenant disturbance. During the investigation it was determined that the defendant Mahmut Unver, 41 of 438 E. Hudson Street was  selling gas hoses and a sign from the station which he no longer owned. He was placed under arrest without incident. A subsequent investigation conducted by the Fourth Squad and the Crimes Against Property Squad determined that in June 2013 Unver used the alias Michael Berger to acquire a line of credit from a Tuxedo, N.Y based oil company for delivery of gasoline to his U.S. Petroleum Gas station. Deliveries were made from June to October of 2013 which exceeded $90.000.00 worth of fuel which Unver never paid.

Unver is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd  degree and Grand Larceny 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, January 10, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
