Huntington Man Loses Control of Car, Burglarizes Oyster Bay Cove Home and Kills Victim's Cat in Process

Oyster Bay, NY - February 5, 2015 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of a Suffolk County man for burglary and robbery that occurred in Oyster Bay Cove on Wednesday, 02/04/15 at 11:00 A.M.

According to detectives, Nicholas Patrikis, 23, of 17 Royal Oak Drive, Huntington, while operating a 2000 Jeep Wrangler (owned by another) northbound on Cove Rd., lost control of the vehicle causing him to strike a snow bank and fence in front of a residence on Royston Lane.  The defendant then exited the vehicle, scaled the fence of an unoccupied home, broke the front glass door and entered the residence.  He proceeded to ransack several rooms, destroying personal property, and took and undisclosed amount of jewelry.  Additionally, the defendant caused the death of the victim’s pet cat by unknown means.  Upon exiting the residence, the defendant took a kitchen knife, which he used to menace several motorists on Cove Rd.  The defendant also committed three counts of robbery and during police apprehension, did actively resist.

No injuries were reported.

Patrikis is being charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Robbery 2nd degree, two counts of Robbery 3nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, Menacing 2nd Degree, Possession Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree, Unauthorized Use Vehicle 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.  He will be arraigned on Thursday, 02/05/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
