On June 28, members of the Patchogue-Medford High School Key Club will put on a fashion show for the residents at McPeak's Assisted Living from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In this blend of "old meets new," the fashion show will enlighten residents with modern fashion trends while bringing them back to their youth. Fifteen students will be modeling the latest fashions from their senior prom while a student DJ plays music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

These high school students have volunteered their free time at McPeak's by playing games and taking part in intergenerational activities with the residents. Intergenerational programs allow seniors and young adults to share talents and resources to create a unified group identity. Older adults benefit greatly from these programs because they enhance socialization, increase interaction with the youth and prevent isolation and boredom in their later years.

"We thank the students at Patchogue-Medford High School for spending time with the residents and putting on this wonderful event," James McPeak, Owner, McPeak's Assisted Living, said. "We're all looking forward to what will definitely be a fun-filled afternoon."

About McPeak's Assisted Living

Founded in 1956 by James and Katherine McPeak, both Registered Nurses, McPeak's is an assisted living facility that provides outstanding service, at reasonable cost, to adults and the elderly based on the philosophy that it is a community responsibility to preserve the health, safety, comfort and general welfare of our elderly and infirm residents. Residents live in a comfortable home-like setting in a former mansion first built in 1924 that has been updated to include numerous safety features and modern amenities. Smoke and fire protection systems and a new elevator provide a safe alternative to living alone. Supervision is handled by a trained staff for 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Activities, specialized diets and medication management are also provided.
