NEW YORK - June 15, 2011 - Carrying on its initiative to promote high standards of academic excellence while providing educational opportunities for students interested in science, engineering or environmental studies, Caithness Long Island, LLC has announced this year's recipients of the annual Caithness Long Island Energy Center Scholarship.

The scholarship program demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to the communities in which it operates. A total of $25,000 per year is awarded to graduating high school students of the Bellport, Longwood and Patchogue-Medford school districts. The Caithness Long Island Energy Center, a 350-megawatt, natural gas fired power facility in Yaphank, is located within or near these school districts. The recipients are selected by their high school administration.

"We at Caithness believe that pursing a college education is critical in preparing young adults for the world ahead of them," said Ross D. Ain, President, Caithness Long Island, LCC, "Caithness is happy to provide some financial assistance to these students in this important step in their lives and we wish them all the best in the future."

Students received their scholarships at special senior awards nights held during the month of June.
