Guardians of Rescue Hosts Comedy Night Celebrating Military Appreciation Month

To celebrate Military Appreciation Month, Guardians of Rescue is hosting a Comedy Event to raise money for the “Paws of War” program.

Bellmore, NY - May 9th, 2013 - According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder occurs after a trauma or life-threatening event and causes reactions such as upsetting memories of the event, increased jumpiness, or trouble sleeping. Guardians of Rescue, a nonprofit organization focused on helping animals in need, has created a program named “Paws of War” to help PTSD veterans through the use of a therapy dogs.

“We are honored to assist the veterans who have served our country,” said Robert Misseri, founder and President of Guardians of Rescue. “This program has the duality to assist both animals and veterans in need.”

To celebrate Military Appreciation Month, Guardians of Rescue is hosting a Comedy Event to raise money for “Paws of War” in order to support veterinary expenses, transport, housing, training, housing and relocation of animals for veterans in need.

The Comedy Night will be held at Governor's Comedy at The Brokerage, 2797 Merrick Rd, Bellmore, NY on Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $30 each and available in advance as well as 50% tax-deductible. Local comedians will be raising money for Guardians of Rescue until 10 pm.

Guardians of Rescue provides assistance to animals out on the streets, helping to rescue them, provide medical care and find foster placement. Their “Paws of War” program helps active military find foster homes and care for their pets while overseas and provides support to veterans suffering from PTSD by the use of therapy dogs.
