The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EDT Saturday. * Locations...along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...around 1 feet above astronomical tide heights. * Timing...around the times of high tide between 10 PM and 2 am tonight. * Impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover. Majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

A pedestrian was struck in front of 1112 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon.

North Babylon, NY - September 2, 2013 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a female pedestrian in North Babylon last night.

Cerice Caprio, 32, of Friendly Court, Babylon was attempting to walk across Deer Park Avenue last night at 9:06 p.m. when she was struck by 2008 Hyundai Elantra that was travelling southbound on Deer Park Avenue. Caprio was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Bloom, 47, of Levittown, was not injured in the crash.

The Elantra was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash and has not been interviewed to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
