Child Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash in West Babylon

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a child bicyclist in West Babylon yesterday.

West Babylon, NY - July 13, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a child bicyclist in West Babylon yesterday.

Alex Pointdujour was riding his bicycle and exited a parking lot onto Sawyer Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by Patricia Cavaliere at 4:35 p.m.

Pointdujour, 11, of Babylon, was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Cavaliere, 71, of Massapequa Park, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
