Mastic Beach Man Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a Mastic Beach man last night.

Mastic Beach, NY - September 7, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a Mastic Beach man last night.

Arnold Furcal was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition westbound on Sunrise Highway in Eastport when his vehicle left the road, struck two guardrails and crossed into the eastbound lanes, west of County Route 51, at 8:10 p.m. The vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda CRV, driven by Arthur Ireland.

Furcal, 31, of Mastic Beach, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Ireland, of Deer Park and his passenger were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue with minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
