Homeless Man Nabbed Driving Stolen Car in Merrick, According to Police

First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a homeless man for Grand Larceny that occurred in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, officers responded to a residence on Lexington Avenue for the report of a stolen vehicle. As officers were investigating they observed the subject in the stolen 2019 Chevrolet Colorado and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The subject refused to stop and continued driving until he struck a tree near Daffodil Lane and Jerusalem Avenue in Wantagh. The subject fled on foot and after an extensive search and investigation he was located in the rear yard of a residence on Hendrickson Court in North Merrick. The defendant, Ryan Buonauro, 22, was taken into custody without further incident.
 
During the investigation it was determined that the defendant Buonauro was responsible for nine (9) other stolen vehicles dating back to February of 2019.
 
The defendant Ryan Buonauro has been charged with ten (10) counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and two (2) counts of Petit Larceny. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
