Upton, NY - July 3, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a person found in the driver’s seat of a burned-out car on a dead-end street in an industrial park in Upton, New York on July 3, 2017. Approximately 8:40 p.m.
 
Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 report of a car fire on Ramsey Road in Upton at approximately 8:40 p.m. The Ridge Fire Department extinguished the fire without incident before discovering a body burned beyond recognition inside the vehicle.
 
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office removed the body. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
