Coram Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash Dies

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a female pedestrian in Coram last evening.

Update - April 25, 2015 - Susan Restrepo, the pedestrian who was critically injured in a motor vehicle crash on Route 25 in Coram on April 20, succumbed to her injuries on April 24.

Coram, NY - April 21st, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a female pedestrian in Coram last evening.

Justin Vaughan, 28, was driving a 1994 Jeep westbound on Middle Country Road when a vehicle with no headlights on crossed Middle Country Road in front of the Jeep, causing Vaughan to swerve his vehicle to avoid a collision at 8:21 p.m. The Jeep struck the pedestrian, Susan Restrepo, 56, at 8:21 p.m. The driver of the other vehicle, who is unknown, was not involved in the crash.

Restrepo, of Coram, was taken via Coram Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. Vaughn, of Port Jefferson Station, was not injured.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
