Smithtown-based clinical psychologist to promote "Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment," a newly-released book heralded by the medical community.
West Babylon, NY - February 19, 2019 - Dr. Simon A. Zysman is a successful pioneer in opioid addiction treatment, as well as the founder of Smithtown-based outpatient clinic Employee Assistance Resource Services, Inc. (EARS). He is also the author of the newly-released book Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment, which delves extensively into his vast experience and groundbreaking treatment methods for successfully combating opioid dependency, currently considered a national health crisis.
Dr. Zysman has been spreading the word about his valuable work contending with the heroin and opioid epidemic – as well as promoting Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment – by conducting a series of exceedingly well-regarded speaking engagements, with latest of which is scheduled to take place at the West Babylon Public Library on Thursday, February 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 211 Route 109 West Babylon, NY 11704 (631) 669-5445.
Opioid addiction, according to Dr. Zysman’s book Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment, can be an especially difficult hurdle for any addict to overcome, as it reduces the body's ability to generate dopamine, a vital neurotransmitter. This creates a vicious circle of abuse for the addict, as the less dopamine your body generates, the more opioids you need to compensate for it in order to feel “normal.” Dr. Zysman’s Buprenorphine-based therapy – considered a major breakthrough by many members of the medical community – allows the body to fill the void associated with dopamine deficiency until they are able to function as relatively normal and healthy individuals once again. This treatment, combined with conventional, spoken therapy techniques, has produced consistent opioid addiction recovery numbers that are one of the highest in New York State by a wide margin.
At the West Babylon Public Library speaking engagement on February 28, Dr. Zysman will be speaking about his experiences with opioid addiction and treatment, as well as sharing some of the information that is available in his book, Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment. After his presentation, Dr. Zysman also plans on taking questions from audience members, and due to the overwhelming response to his work, typically those Q&A sessions can take quite some time. However, Dr. Zysman noted, at this time he is more than happy to give to a great and compelling cause.
“My goal is to help people to develop a better understanding of the disease concept of opiate addiction and how to treat it, with the ultimate goal of saving lives,” he said. “This is a very emotional and distressing subject for most people...they're still trying to get a grip on the problem, especially as it pertains to loved ones.”
Since the release of Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment, Dr. Zysman has been engaging in a regular series of personal appearances to help promote successful methods of treating Heroin & Opioid Addiction by speaking at Hospitals, Universities, Libraries, along with plans to engage in interviews on television news and talk shows. The recognition Dr. Zysman has received as of late has indeed been impressive. He was recently honored by his alma mater, Queens College, who has prominently displayed a copy of Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment in the Alumni Authors display in the campus’ Rosenthal Library. In addition, a documentary filmmaker has spoken with Dr. Zysman regarding a possible docudrama film on his work and experiences in fighting addiction.
Dr. Zysman noted that copies of Successful Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment is available on Amazon and his personal website simonzysman.com for purchase. Both sales of and reception to the book have remained consistently strong since its release – both by the public at large and the medical community – solidifying the fact that a practical and effective solution to opioid addiction is very much in demand.
“The majority of the sales of my book are through Amazon.com as well as appearances I've made while promoting it. Both avenues have been very effective, and it's getting quite a bit of publicity,” Dr. Zysman said. “The momentum of the book has been continuing to build…it’s very helpful for policymakers, professionals, for addicts, and for their families so that they can have a better understanding of this fatal disease. My additional goal is to take away the stigma associated with opioid addiction. The ultimate goal, of course, is to save lives.”
