Suffolk County Announces Opioid Overdose Prevention Classes

Suffolk County, NY - October 12, 2017 - County Executive Steve Bellone and Dr. James Tomarken, Commissioner of Health, are encouraging residents to take advantage of scheduled Opioid Overdose Prevention Classes.
 
Learn about the program; watch “Saving One Life at a Time with Narcan at Suffolk’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Program.”
 
The training, which meets New York State Department of Health requirements, will enable participants to recognize an opioid overdose, administer intranasal naloxone and take additional steps until EMS arrives. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes nasal naloxone. The classes will take place as follows:
