Bay Shore, NY - September 23th, 2011 - The Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Inc. (BSBRA) of Bay Shore, NY has been nationally recognized as the 2011 Impact Volunteer Emergency Medical Service of the Year. This award is co-sponsored by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and EMS Magazine's National EMS Award of Excellence Program. The award was presented during the opening ceremonies of the EMS Expo Conference, August 31st, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Recognizing excellence gives us the opportunity to showcase the individuals and organizations that rise above the job description and participate actively in the community," explains EMS Magazine Publisher Scott Cravens.

The Impact Volunteer EMS Service of the Year, which is sponsored by Impact Instrumentation, Inc., recognizes outstanding performance by a volunteer EMS service. Award criteria considers service demographic, call volume, advances in education, innovation in pre-hospital care, protocol development, wellness programs, and public education projects.

"The officers and members of our organization work to improve operations and to provide the highest quality healthcare possible," notes Peter Klopsis, President and Board of Director of BSBRA. "By providing 24/7 advanced life support coverage, reducing our response times, and making advances in pre-hospital care procedures, we have moved our organization into the national spotlight."

Among those accepting the award in Las Vegas, NV was Chief Jason Hoffman, who has served BSBRA for over a decade. "Our members have been working hard over the past few years to provide quality care to our community," explains Chief Hoffman. "Every day our volunteer members sacrifice time away from their families to assist someone in need. This award is truly an honor and offers some recognition for all the hard work and time volunteered. We are extremely proud to be accepting this prestigious award."
