West Babylon Man Arrested for DWI with Child After Fleeing Crash That Seriously Injured Motorcyclist

A West Babylon man was arrested for DWI with his child in the car after fleeing a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a West Babylon man for driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle after he fled the scene of a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist.
 
Robert Graganella was driving a 2011 Nissan Murano eastbound on Route 109 at Straight Path when his vehicle rearended a 2015 Yamaha R3 motorcycle, operated by Braelynn Holley, at 2:22 a.m. Graganella fled the scene in his vehicle.
 
Graganella, who had his 7-year-old son in the car with him, was located by police a short time later as he returned to his home, located on Brook St.
 
Graganella, 43, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Serious Injury, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger Less than 15 Years Old, Driving While Intoxicated, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
Holley, 23, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Graganella’s son, who was not injured, was released to a family member.
