Long Islanders can't wait to fire up the grill and kick off the peak outdoor cooking season igniting this May (National Barbecue Month).  It is the unofficial start of summertime. There are a lot of ways to celebrate this fun, interactive and tasty holiday.  Outdoor cooking is more popular and easier than ever. The majority of Americans claim that they prefer cooking out over eating out.  Many think that  a barbecue is a great way to spend quality-time with their friends or relatives.  Barbecues are associated with family traditions with so many of us.

Barbecues aren't always about meat. Try full vegetable kabobs and grill for dinner. Visit a Farmer's Market for the freshest, local veggies. Grill a mix variety of zucchini, corn, and other summer vegetables for a healthy lunch or side dish.  Try something different and get a favorite barbecue recipe from a neighbor or friend.  If you’re the budding pitmaster or a seasoned grillin’ pro you will delight your guest's palates.

After the especially brutal winter we had, people are ready to cook outside and enjoy the outdoors!
