This past weekend, the Great South Bay Music Festival was held again in Patchogue for the 5th year. The festival was packed with excitement during the 3 days. With arts and crafts, stands full of things to buy, free giveaways, raffles, contests, all the food choices a festival could possibly offer and music, this festival is one that we hope you didn’t miss. The beautiful weather held out for all 3 days with only a little wind against the water at times. While major and local music bands were awaiting their time on stage, throughout the festival there were plenty of exciting sites and performances taking place. The festival was set up in 3 main sections at Shorefront Park. Once your ticket was purchased, you stepped into the furthest section to the right which was full of little gifts to buy. Stands consisted of string bracelets and other jewelry, hammock like chairs, and an array of other gifts. This section also was where the kid’s zone was held which provided entertainment throughout the day for younger children attending the festival. A little pet pavilion also rested in this area, as well as the cultural stage. Over the crossways, which was set over water, was the middle section of the festival. Multiple food concessions were stationed in this area including fresh squeezed lemonade, soft pretzels, roasted corn, Italian ice, grilled chicken, sandwiches and more. And an old fashion soda stand stood next to the ices which offered “old fashioned soda pop” in an all day mug with free-refills. This area also had business tents set up the entire way around the section, with tents and chairs in the middle for relaxing and enjoying a food break. Our tent, LongIsland.com, was placed against the water, across from the food. We will announce the winners of our raffles shortly.Individual entires have a chance to win a $100 gift card to Scotto’s restaurant in Old Westbury, while business entries can win a year of free advertising on www.LongIsland.com. The second music stage was to the left of our tent, which through the day offered singing and excitement from visiting groups. The last section held the main stage, the Blue Point Brews Stage. Performances by 38 Special, Electric Hot Tuna, Antigone Rising, the Kerry Kearney Band, Jay Scott, Caroline Doctorow, Marc Broussard, Umphrey’s McGee and many others took place throughout the weekend, attracting many music fans. As a whole, the festival’s vibe was extremely welcoming, friendly and eccentric, leaving visitors with excitement for next year’s festival.
