Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for an Assault that occurred on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 8:55 pm in Elmont.
 
According to detectives, police responded to Marshalls, located at 600 Hempstead Turnpike, for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject fleeing the scene with unpaid merchandise from the store.
 
After a brief foot pursuit, a struggle ensued and an officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest, as the subject refused to comply with multiple verbal commands while resisting.
 
Police were eventually able to secure Defendant Mark Ware, 45, of 19206 104 th Avenue and place him into custody without further incident.
 
The injured officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment and
evaluation.
 
Defendant Mark Ware is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Petit Larceny, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
Further investigation revealed that Defendant Mark Ware was also responsible for seven previous Petit Larcenies that occurred at this location.
