The New York Jets received a mixed bag of news regarding their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, during the team's season opener. Despite initial concerns, X-rays conducted after Rodgers left the game during the opening drive came back negative. However, there remains a cloud of uncertainty hovering over the situation.

Following the Jets' thrilling 22-16 overtime victory against the Buffalo Bills, head coach Robert Saleh hinted at a potentially grim diagnosis for the four-time MVP. It is suspected that Rodgers may be grappling with an Achilles injury. To ascertain the extent of the damage, the Jets' quarterback is scheduled for an MRI examination on Tuesday.

Coach Saleh expressed his apprehension, stating, "The MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is already going to happen, so prayers tonight. But it's not good." With these ominous words, Saleh suggested that the team is bracing for a challenging situation with Rodgers' injury.

In light of this uncertainty, Saleh informed reporters that Zach Wilson will assume the role of the Jets' starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. The team appears to be preparing for the worst-case scenario in Rodgers' injury.

Notably, ESPN's Adam Schefter shared similar insights during the halftime show of the "Monday Night Football" broadcast. Schefter hinted at the Jets having a strong inkling about Rodgers' condition, saying, "The Jets probably have a very good idea what's wrong with Aaron Rodgers right now. They'll be further testing tomorrow, and I think when you talk to people around the league, who have not examined him, there's concern it could be either a high ankle sprain or Achilles injury. The Achilles injury is the one that everybody worries about."

The injury occurred early in the game when Rodgers was sacked by Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd during the fifth offensive play. Initially, the 39-year-old quarterback struggled to get to his feet, and he subsequently returned to the ground in pain. Team trainers rushed to his aid, eventually assisting him off the field and into the medical tent.
