"Air Quality Alert" ...Air quality alert in effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday... The New York state department of environmental conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Nassau and Suffolk In effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone . The air quality index, or aqi, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. Legislator Anker Honors the Miller Place Varsity Football Team

At the General Legislature Meeting on Tuesday, December 19, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker honored the Miller Place Varsity Football Team for winning the Division IV Suffolk County Championship.

Hauppauge, NY - December 21, 2017 - At the General Legislature Meeting on Tuesday, December 19, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker honored the Miller Place Varsity Football Team for winning the Division IV Suffolk County Championship. Legislator Anker was joined by Miller Place Athletic Director Ron Petrie, Head Coach Greg Murphy, Assistant Coaches Nick Belvedere and Adam St. Nicholas, and Senior Captains Tyler Ammirato, Christian Kelleher, Matt McNulty, and Joe Panico. The team worked tirelessly throughout the season and won the championship game against Babylon with a score of 33-25.

“As one of the top football teams on Long Island, the Miller Place Panthers have proven that dedication and perseverance can lead to great success,” said Legislator Anker. “I would like to congratulate all of the players and coaches whose hard work makes them exemplary role models for their community and for teams across Suffolk County.”

The team brought great honor to their school and their community. This was the first time the Varsity Football Team won the championship title since 1988. In addition to winning the county championship, the team qualified for the Long Island Championship finals.
