Police responded to a distraught 57 year old male threatening to jump from a second floor elevated platform, officials report.

Garden City, NY - December 5, 2017 - The Public Information Office reports the details of an Aided case that occurred in East Garden City on Monday, December 04, 2017 at 10:21 am.
 
According to police, Third Precinct police responded to the Gallery of Westbury Plaza located at 900 Old Country Road for a distraught 57 year old male threatening to jump from a second floor elevated platform. 
 
Third Precinct police located the male and verbally engaged the male victim from the lower level and the upper level assuring him they were there to help. Two Third Precinct officers on the upper level observed that the male victim was holding on to a railing as they were communicating with him. 
 
When the male victim removed his hands from the railing it was imminent that the victim would jump and it was at that time the two Third Precinct officers pulled the man back to safety.
 
The male victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. There were no other injuries reported.
