Garden City, NY - November 24th, 2013 - The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a Fire that occurred on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2:14 AM in Garden City.
 
According to detectives, a 41 year old male victim was watching television when he smelled smoke inside his Andover Court home.  The victim looked outside and observed a patio swing fully engulfed. The victim tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful and the fire quickly spread to the home.  Garden City Fire Department along with Mineola, Franklin Square, New Hyde Park, Stewart Manor, Westbury and Carle Place responded with 120 firefighters and 20 pieces of fire apparatus to extinguish the fire.  Three Garden City firefighters suffered non – life threatening injuries and refused further medical assistance at the scene.  

A Westbury firefighter slipped on a patch of ice and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a broken wrist and a shoulder injury.  The homeowner reported no injuries.  The structure suffered severe fire damage.
