The trial of a Danny Bonilla Zavala of Selden, 20, will start Tuesday (11-28) in Central Islip.

Central Islip, NY - November 21, 2017 - The trial of a Selden man indicted for aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated DWI, vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene and other charges will start Tuesday (11-28) in Central Islip.
 
Danny Bonilla Zavala, 20, allegedly ran away from the scene on August 21 of last year on Route 112 near Sagamore Hills Drive in Port Jefferson Station. The driver of the car Zavala struck, Bob Hidalgo, 31, of Coram, was pronounced dead at the scene. 
 
Police apprehended Zavala a short time after the crash and blood taken approximately ninety minutes after the collision showed the defendant’s blood-alcohol level to be .33; over four times the .08 legal threshold for DWI. 
 
Zavala is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated DWI, DWI, resisting arrest and reckless driving.
