Hempstead, NY - March 23, 2017 - Special Victims Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for incidents that occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Hempstead.

According to detectives, Tommy Vladim Alvarado-Ventura, 31, at approximately 11:30 pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, was present at the address that he shares with his girlfriend. At that time, Alvarado-Ventura was home with his girlfriend’s two year old daughter, four year old son and another tenant of the apartment who was in charge of watching the children while the mother was at work.

Alvarado-Ventura remains at the home until approximately 12:30 am, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at which time the 2 year old is heard crying as he leaves the residence. After departing, Alvarado-Ventura heads to El Mariachi Loco bar, 277 Fulton Avenue, which is a short distance away. While at that location, at approximately 2:20 am, he becomes involved in an argument with a 24 year old female over the purchasing of marijuana.

The female leaves the bar and is confronted by Alvarado-Ventura in the rear parking lot where he begins punching and kicking her, produces a knife and stabs the victim multiple times causing her to sustain a collapsed lung. Alvarado-Ventura flees the scene prior to police arrival and the victim is transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Alvarado-Ventura returns to his residence at approximately 3:15 am and at 4:15 am, when his girlfriend returns home from work, a confrontation occurs when she observes that her two year old daughter has suffered severe injuries that were inflicted by him. The argument escalates and Alvarado-Ventura, after punching the victim, withdraws a knife and stabs her multiple times.

Despite her injuries, the victim was able to gather her children, leave the room and join the babysitter who resides in another area of the apartment. The police were then contacted and upon Hempstead Police arrival, Alvarado-Ventura, who had since fallen asleep, was placed under arrest without further incident.

The victim, who sustained multiple stab wounds, along with the two year old, who was suffering from a sexual assault committed by Alvarado-Ventura, were transported to an area hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

Alvarado-Ventura is charged with Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child, Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Assault 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/23/2017.
