Take a short trip out east to either fork to sample some of the best wineries the region has to offer. Below we list six wineries to try out this fall.

 

South Fork

 

The South Fork is not as packed with vineyards as the sister fork up above but there are some key wineries to choose from in the Hamptons.

 

Duck Walk Vineyard

 

According to their website, founder Herodotus “Dan” Damianos, helped create the winemaking industry on Long Island in the early 1980's. In 1994 he and his son, Alexander, launched Duck Walk Vineyards. Their varieties span red, white, brut, blush, riesling, and a vidal blanc dessert wine. The South Fork vineyard (they also have a North Fork location) is in the heart of Southampton with a beautiful chateau nestled in 30 acres of lush grape vines.You can get wine by the glass or by the bottle on their patio area. Pricing is $12 for four samples.

Channing Daughters

 

They grow and create wines from over two dozen varieties. Channing Daughters sits on twenty-eight acres of vines, with a small winery and tasting room. Enjoy tastings on the outdoor patio that is enclosed and heated in the colder months. Flights of 5 signature Channing Daughters wines ($25 per person), glasses of wine and paired snacks are available. There is a $5 per person is the reservation fee

Wölffer Estate Vineyard

 

Not just wine. Wölffer Estate produces brandy, gin and cider. Their Rose is very popular and of course, they have a nice selection of whites and reds. Reserve your spot in their tasting room online. A completely curated wine tasting experience is available for $100 per person.

North Fork

 

According to reports there are over 2,000 acres of land that is dedicated to growing grapes for wine and most of that is on the North Fork.

 

Bedell Cellars

 

No reservations required at Bedell and can accommodate groups of 6 or fewer. Open Friday through Sunday from 12-5pm. They have live music on select Fridays from 5-8pm.

Paumanok 

 

A family-owned 127-acre estate with a tasting room that overlooks the vineyard. Visits to Paumanok are by reservation only - walk-ins, subject to availability.

McCall Wines

 

They take reservations and accept walk-ins to their tasting room. Try their Grand Tasting Flight which is a selection of their reserve wines hosted by an in-house Sommelier, and paired with an array of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, toasted baguettes, dried fruits, nuts, and olives for $75 per person.
