Long Islanders enjoying some family fun at Greenport's Maritime Festival!

When the summer heat begins to bid farewell and children go back to school, it can only mean that September has arrived once again.  While the days at the beach may be soon replaced by chillier fall days, there are dozens upon dozens of fantastic events to look forward to this month!  Things will kick off almost immediately with Labor Day Weekend, which has a selection of festivals and concerts to help Long Islanders celebrate the holiday.

From there, a plethora of Festivals and Fairs spread across each of September's five full weekends ensures that there will always be a chance to spend quality time with the family.  Whether you're looking for a cultural celebration, a place to shop for one-of-a-kind crafts, or heart-stopping rides, great times await!  Staying energized during these festivities might be a challenge if it wasn't for a great selection of local Farmers' Markets.  Each market is stocked with the crispest vegetables, juiciest fruits, and delectable baked goods, ensuring that the tastiest items are only a short walk or car ride away.

Though September boasts seemingly endless opportunities for family entertainment, it's important to take some time out to remember those that we lost on September 11th, 2001.  A number of memorial ceremonies will he held at local venues to pay tribute to the first responders and victims that lost their lives on that fateful day in our modern history.

Thirty days doesn't provide much time to fit in all of these exciting activities, so be sure to grab your planner and begin setting aside days this September for family fun!
