NCPD: Suspects Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop with Loaded Handguns, Crack Cocaine

The Third Squad reports on the arrest of three individuals for the Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 3:24 PM in Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, Hempstead Detectives observed a black Nissan Altima that stopped in the middle of the roadway on Terrace Avenue. Three individuals were seen entering the vehicle that had illegally tinted windows and an expired registration. Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Jackson Street near the vicinity of Station Plaza. 
 
As Officers approached the vehicle, all four suspects fled from the vehicle on foot. A short time later three of the defendants, Tyshawn Parsons, 19 of 32 Martin Luther King Drive, Hempstead, Shamar Jackson, 18 of 100 Terrace Avenue, Hempstead and a 17-year-old male juvenile were all placed under arrest without further incident. 
 
The fourth suspect was not apprehended at scene. 
 
Further investigation resulted in three loaded handguns, one of them with a high-capacity magazine being recovered from scene and a white substance believed to be crack cocaine. Investigation is ongoing. 
 
Defendant Tyshawn Parsons is charged with the Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and the Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
 
Defendant Shamar Jackson is charged with the Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and the Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree. 
 
The 17-year-old Juvenile is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree and the Criminal Possession of a Firearm. 
 
All three defendants were arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead on Saturday, September 9, 2023. 
 
Defendant Tyshawn Parsons was previously arrested in Nassau County on July 14, 2023 and charged with the Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and the Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. For the above incident, Parsons was issued a desk appearance ticket and released.
