Two houses in the Town of Hempstead were deemed unsafe by the Town board during their September 7, 2022 meeting. Resolutions authorizing the demolition and removal of the houses were on the agenda:

  • Demolition of a two-story wood frame, one family dwelling and debris from premises located at 709 Fishermans Road in Baldwin. According to realtor.com, the home, built in 1908, is for sale for $475,000. It is a three-story Colonial with five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
  • Demolition and removal of the one-story wood frame, one family dwelling with detached garage and debris from the premises at 511 Sunnybrook Drive in Oceanside. A listing on realtor.com, shows the home valued at $586,400 but is not currently for sale. It is a 1,008-sq-ft house with one bathroom on a 6,120-sq-ft lot built in 1949.

According to the Town code, the owners were advised of the existing condition of the structures and had an opportunity to be heard before the board.

It is not clear when the demolition of the structures will take place and what will happen to the properties.
