Queens Man in Custody After Threatening Garden City Store Employee with Knife, Reports Say

NCPD: Ashley Eugene, 30, became irate while attempting to return an item at the Microsoft Retail Store and caused a scene.

Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Queens man, for a Robbery that occurred in East Garden City.
 
According to detectives, Ashley Eugene, 30, became irate while attempting to return a wireless controller for his gaming system at the Microsoft Retail Store, 630 Old Country Road. The defendant took a replacement controller off the shelf and proceeded to exit the store without paying for it. A store employee confronted him and advised him he needed to pay for the item. Eugene picked up a laptop and threw it at the employee causing him to injure his hand.  After leaving the store with the unpaid merchandise the defendant did return brandishing a knife and damaged a computer monitor.
 
Third Precinct officers located the defendant and after conducting a subsequent car stop, placed him under arrest without further incident. 
 
Eugene is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree.  He was arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
