Localized minor coastal flooding from 7 PM to 10 PM EDT this evening. * COASTAL IMPACTS...Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect up to 1 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 1 to 3 ft along the north shore of Long Island may result in beach erosion and wave splashover during the times of high tide this evening and Saturday morning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Brief minor flooding, with inundation up to 1/2 ft above ground level, of the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline expected during this evening high tides.

NCPD reports the arrest of Donald Young Jr. of Uniondale, 33, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Hewlett, NY - August 7, 2018 - The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, August 5, 2018 at 2:22 am in Hewlett.
 
According to detectives, a patrol officer was waived down by a male, 47, who was operating a street sweeper in a parking lot located at 1765 Peninsula Boulevard. The operator was on the phone with 911 regarding a disabled motorist in the lot. The officer called for assistance, approached a Gray 2006 Nissan Altima and observed a male passed out in the driver’s seat. While the engine was running, officers began to knock on the window and shake the car to ensure the male was not suffering from a medical episode. The male woke up and rolled down the driver’s side window. Officers detected a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle appeared confused and unsure of his whereabouts.
 
A thorough investigation was conducted and Donald Young Jr., 33, was found to be in possession of substances believed to be marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine. A loaded handgun was recovered from the defendant’s vehicle. He was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Young is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, two (2) counts Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He was arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead on 08/06/18.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
